Kale, Greens, and Why Veggies are the Mecca of Fitness

Kale Juice

Kale – the word alone rhymes with unpleasant things like impale, flail, fail, but it is in fact the Holy Grail (like what I did there?) of health. I have a hate love relationship with greens. I love the way they make me feel but I all too often find myself wanting something sweeter like dates or bananas, but your body needs greens in order to function at a top-notch level. It’s jam-packed with antioxidants that help to cancel out free radicals in your system, a cup of it has 100% of your daily values of vitamins A, C, and K, and it also has easy to digest plant proteins and amino acids in every crunchy leaf. The ongoing research of how incredible dark leafy greens are for your body is tremendous, and any fitgal gets her veggies in on the daily. I know with my macros I try to ingest as many cruciferous vegetables and dark leafy greens as possible with every meal. The fiber helps you digest and move your bowels properly which is especially important if you are eating high levels of hard to digest animal proteins. A simple way for you to start the day off right is to have half a glass of all vegetable green juice. It is refreshing, flushes your digestive track, stimulates bowel movements, and gets a good portion of your daily requirements for greens out of the way. It is also a great way to add variety to the nutrients in your body if you tend to not be a big fan of different veggies. My daily juice recipe is simple, cheap, and gives you all of the best of the veggie world.

Good Morning Krazy Kale Juice

1 Cucumber (Cucumbers are easily cultivated so often very inexpensive, have been shown to fight certain types of cancer, aid in weight loss, rid the body of toxins, it is loaded with B vitamins, and cures hangovers – fuck yeah.)
1 Bundle of Dino Kale (Lacinato, Tuscan, etc. is easier to juice in my opinion than other types of kale, it is also a cancer fighter and helps to regulate blood sugar.)
2-3 Stalks of Celery (Celery juice is considered a superfood for it’s PH balancing and alkalizing abilities. It is a diuretic, aids in digestion, has been found to lower cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, helps insomnia, and can increase sexuality – Rawr ;))
1 Thumb of Ginger (Ginger is great for upset stomachs and is also considered a superfood for its alkaline nature)
1 Lemon (Lemons are great for flavoring and balance the bodies PH levels. They are anti-viral, body crime fighting masterminds that cleanse the liver and help to fight acne.)

I try to drink this juice every morning at least 5x a week. We all have days where we wake up late and have other shit to do besides juice, but give it a shot and let me know what you think!
