Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent Fasting… what is it?

To summarize, it is a fasting period of 14-24 hours where no calories are consumed. Scientists have suggested fasting can be beneficial for fat loss and allowing the GI tract time to heal itself and process the meals from the previous day. There are several variations of IF – from Leangains to the Warrior diet, but all require the same idea of an “eating window” and “fasting time.” The fasting cycle I am currently doing is fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8 hours. My calories and carbs vary day to day. I am not following any other school of thought (no carb cycling or low calorie days) and only focusing on fasting to see if there are any benefits to fasting alone. I have a feeling my body will probably still react better to carb cycling and lower calorie days, but let’s wait and see. The diagram below is a great example of intermittent fasting schedules in case you are wondering/want to try it yourself. I found this diagram on justinhealth.com
